Dino Derby tarp auction Saturday

This Saturday residents and businesses have a chance to get in on the auction action for this summer’s Chuckwagon races.
The tarp auction for the 2013 Badlands Dinosaur Derby is Saturday March 16 at the Stampede Barn. This is a chance to buy a tarp for the races coming up on the August Long Weekend.
Mike Hansen, president of the Drumheller and District Ag Society says this is the second year the Dino Derby will have the Alberta Professional Chuckwagon and Chariot Association running. Last year was very successful for the Ag Society running with the new association. The races were fast and exciting for the drivers and the fans.  Hansen said there was a positive attitude surrounding the show. He expects drivers and spectators to be back this season.
This year’s tarp auction will feature 44 tarps. Residents or businesses can purchase the tarps and emblazon the side of the wagon to their liking for the four-day event. Hansen said the drivers would be at the auction.
Hansen said last year all but 10 tarps were sold at the auction and by showtime, all were sponsored. Local businesses or residents purchased more than half of the tarps.
The meet and greet at the  Stampede Barn starts at 5 p.m. with the auction at 6:30 p.m.
