October 21, 1921 ~ March 23, 2017

Helen Dropko, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt passed away peacefully and with grace on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the age of 95. She was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on October 21, 1921. Helen was a fiercely proud woman and loved her family. She was tough as nails with a will of steel, yet she was always able to show her love and compassion for those around her. She enjoyed gardening and harvested her last crop of amazing vegetables just as she turned 95 last fall. She leaves to mourn her loving children: Brian of Didsbury, Ken of Edmonton and Karen of Airdrie; six grandchildren: Ryan, Stephanie, Jessica, Tyler, Bradon and Carlyn; and two great-grandchildren, Dane and Ryder. She was predeceased by her husband, John, her daughter, Darlene and two brothers and one sister. A private family service for Helen was held Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes at 11:00 A.M. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes were in care of the arrangements. The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the ICU nurses and doctors at the Red Deer Regional Hospital who provided excellent care during Helen’s short illness.
