Land Leroy Fredrick

Land, Leroy Fredrick
September 19, 1972 - May 25, 2013

Leroy Land of Red Deer, Alberta passed away while surrounded by family at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Saturday, May 25. He battled cancer with his usual wit and sarcastic humour, focussing during his final days on raising the spirits of those for whom he cared most, and insisting that nobody feel sad for him. He was born in Hanna, Alberta and moved with his family to Drumheller in 1977 where he grew up and became a contributor to the community working as a parts person and a volunteer firefighter. He eventually left for a forestry job in Mission, British Columbia before entering the pipefitting trade in Ft. McMurray, Alberta. Most recently, Leroy worked as a pipefitter in Hardisty, Alberta and made his home in Red Deer. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and dreamed of taking up fly-fishing. He was a devoted Nascar fan, and he loved camping and visiting with his family and friends. Leroy is survived by his wife Janeena, his daughter Amanda, his stepdaughter Krystan, his stepson Lucas, his parents Fred and Sandra, his sister Jolene (Rob), his nephews Carson and Rainer, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Leroy’s charisma and magnetic personality made him the life of the party. In keeping with his wishes, he will be the life of the party once more as family members and friends are invited to an informal gathering in his memory at the East Coulee Community Hall on Saturday, June 1 at 2:00 p.m. If so desired, donations may be made in Leroy’s name to the following address to assist with burial arrangements: Hatley Memorial Gardens, Attn: Anne, 2050 Sooke Road, Victoria, BC  V9B 1W3. 250-478-1754
