Don Pliva, 77 passed away peacefully on May 14, 2013 in three Hills, Alberta. He was born on September 27, 1935 in Drumheller, Alberta, to Jim and Christina Pliva. He worked for Canadian Utilities (later Alberta Power and then ATCO Electric) which took him from Drumheller to Ft. McMurray, Oyen and then to Three Hills, where he met and married Linda Lou Dau in 1969. Son Daniel Steven was born in 1973. The young family then journeyed to Rainbow Lake and then High Level, where daughter Heather Louise was born in 1978. After working in Peace River, Fairview and Stettler, Don and Linda finally retired in Three Hills on the family acreage where Don was able to satisfy his passion for gardening. Don was very active in every community that he lived in. He was a member of the Elks, Kinsmen, and Rotary organizations throughout the years and served on many committees and boards. As a young man, he participated in fast pitch baseball as a catcher in the summer, and played hockey as a goaltender in the winter. He played on many championship winning hockey teams, such as the Drumheller Miners and the Hanna Hornets. He is survived by his wife Linda, his son, Dan (Karey), daughter Heather and his four legged companions Digger, Sammy, Dude and Buddy. Funeral Services were held on May 21, 2013 at Knox United Church, Three Hills, AB. Memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Lung Association or to STARS.
