Brunette
Dennis Vernon

June 3, 1940 ~ January 22, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father/grandfather Dennis Vernon Brunette. Dennis is survived by his son, Dennis Jr., daughters, Cynthia (Keith) Seitz, and Carrie (Gino) Marshall; and grandchildren Samantha (Gavin) Pittman, Colton and Alana Marshall. He is also survived by brother Ernie Brunette and sister UnnaMay McGhee, and good friends Vic and June Scott. He was predeceased by his mother Beatrice, father Fred and two sisters Hazel Deitz and Evelyn Wilton. Dennis was a man of many talents, and was always working on something, (patio furniture, houseboat which he took to Campbell River). He worked at Durnie and Hawkins Plumbing and Heating for a few years, before moving his young family to Calgary, where he worked at National Tank Welding. They then moved to Edmonton for a short time, before coming back to Drumheller. He joined his father at B&B Construction, eventually taking over the company when his father retired. Dad had a passion for fast cars; racing stock cars for a while, then moving on to snowmobiles. He could often be seen cruising on his Gold Wing. Dad headed to Red Deer where he worked for a number of years, until his health forced him into early retirement. He kept busy doing house renos and making toys and hope chests for the grandchildren, when he wasn’t working on his cars. He acquired a Ford Galaxy convertible and enjoyed taking it to car shows. This passion led him to join the Cruisers car club, where he made many lasting friendships. Dad also spent his summers camping whenever he could. A memorial service will be held for Dad at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
