January 31, 1941 – January 22, 2018

It is with great sadness and love that we say goodbye to our beloved wife and mother Carol Faye Berdahl (nee Bettschen) who, following a long illness, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, January 22, 2018. Carol, known to many of her friends as Charlie, will forever be remembered by her husband of 55 years, Gordon of Edmonton; son Andrew of Drumheller; daughter, Kari Docherty of Coquitlam, BC; grandchildren, Gage Berdahl of Revelstoke, BC,Ella Docherty of Coquitlam, and Keira Tipman of Gatineau, Quebec. Carol,the youngest of 11 children, is also survived by 3 sisters, Mabel Klein of Duncan, BC, Hilda Chalifoux of Edmonton, and Lauretta Hewison of Surrey, BC; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, William C. and Agnes E. Bettschen; 5 sisters, Ada McQueen, Marion Lysyk, Ellen Dragu, Charlotte Blair and Donna Merrett; and 2 brothers, Bill and Wilf. A Celebration of Life will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8405-81 St. NW, Edmonton, on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11 a.m., Pastor Barbara Groot officiating. Cremation has taken place. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and special thanks to the staff of the Gerald Zetter Care Centre who cared so much for Carol during her last 55 months, and to the Choice Program staff there before that. In lieu of flowers,memorial donations in Carol’s honour may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories, the Gerald Zetter Care Centre, or a charity of one’s choice.
