RIEP, Margaret Isobel (nee McNair)

The family of Margaret Riep share in her joy as she was called home to heaven on Feb. 6, 2011.  She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in the Three Hills Hospital.   Margaret was born on Dec. 1, 1927, at the family farm near Delia, AB, to Vance and Eulalia McNair.  She and her brother, Don, attended Sentinel Hill school before moving to the Dormitory in Drumheller to attend High School.  After the sudden passing of her father on Oct. 2, 1944, she moved with her mother to Calgary.  She completed Grade 12 at St. Mary’s Girl School.   She became a teacher and began her teaching career at Greenleaf School.   It was during this time she met the love of her life, Edgar Riep.  They were married on Dec. 26, 1949.   Together they raised their family on the farm east of Trochu.  Her children have many happy memories of walking with her through fields, coulees, and riverbanks, looking for arrowheads and artifacts.  Over the years, Margaret has been an active member of the Trochu CWL, TOPS Club, East Trochu Birthday Club, and the Hospital Auxiliary.  She enjoyed many crafts especially making Porcelain dolls.  Many happy times were shared with family and friends over a delicious home-cooked meal, a game of cards or a cup of tea.  Margaret enjoyed travelling and was able to take many interesting trips over the years. Family was very important to Margaret.  She is survived by her brother Don (Doreen) of Drumheller. She will be missed by her 5 children- Bruce(Karen), Brian (Bonny), Larry(Brenda), Glen(Nancy), Kathy(Dennis); her 15 grandchildren- Jason(Val), Dustin(Lora), Kris(Diane), Simone, Joel, Jaclyn(Brad), Curtis, Josh, Nick(Cortney), Brittany, Mitchell, Zoe, Luke, Ali and Sydney.  Great grandchildren include Devon, Logan, Jhordaine, Eric, Ian, Keyera, Simon and Peyton.  She was predeceased by her husband Edgar in 1996 and her infant daughter, Sharon, in 1951.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Trochu or to the charity of your choice.  Funeral services have been entrusted to Prairie Winds Funeral Home, (403)442-2200, and will be celebrated at St. Anne of the Prairies Catholic Church in Trochu, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11th, 2011.  Fellowship will follow at the Trochu Community Hall. Condolences may be sent to prairiewindsfuneralhome@gmail.com.  Rest in peace, Mom.   You will always be loved and remembered.
