TWA, Russell Maitland

Russell Twa, of Calgary, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2009 at the age of 98.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Rachelle Twa; his brother Lloyd; his five children, Doreen (Bob), Ann, Joan, Allan (Pamela) and David; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Russell was born in Harding, Manitoba in 1911 and grew up in the Coronation area of Alberta.  He met Rachelle in Drumheller, got marred in 1935 to Rachelle and lived in Drumheller for the next 26 years before moving to Calgary in 1961.  Russell worked for the Canadian National Railway as a switchman for 35 years until he retired at age 65 in 1976. Russell was an avid gardener and sportsman, and loved baseball, hunting, fishing and curling.  He will be missed by his friends and family members. At Russell’s request a private memorial will be held for family and relatives.
