JAMES
Tyler Frank

May 13, 1953 - February 9, 2022

Tyler Frank James was born in Calgary, Alberta on May 13, 1953. He was second born son to Ed and Myrtle James.
Tyler grew up on the family farm in the Verdant Valley area of Drumheller with his seven siblings, Marci, Bonnie, Randy, Trudy, Shelley, Karen and Allison.
He married his wife, Valerie in 1978. They were blessed with four beautiful children that Tyler loved without measure or judgment.
Tyler loved to travel but his heart was always at home. He loved the smell of the fresh-turned earth in the spring, but nothing beat the long hours and late nights of harvest watching the grain fill the bins.
Tyler’s greatest treasure were his five grandchildren. They were truly the light of his life and provided him with untold entertainment in his last few years.
Tyler was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2015. Two years later, he was hit with dementia. Tyler fought it every step of the way but when it became clear that he was losing the battle, he made the decision to go out on his own terms choosing the medical assistance in dying program. On February 9, 2022, Tyler passed away peacefully and with dignity at his home surrounded by his loving family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 42 years, Valerie. Their children, Dylan of Drumheller, Tannis (Damien) Stewart of Melbourne, Australia, their two children Julian and Poppy, Logan (Shawni Jo) of Drumheller, their three little cowboys, Chet, Wylie, and Gus, and Brittney of Costa Rica.
Funeral services were held on February 12, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Parkinson’s Society of Alberta in memory of Tyler James.
