NEILSEN
John (Jack) William

Born September 17, 1933
Passed May 17, 2017

John (Jack) William Neilsen of Drumheller passed away at the age of 84. He was predeceased by his father Aage Neilsen-Degnegaard, who emigrated from Denmark to work the mines in the Drumheller area, and mother Jane Ellswith Degnegaard, whose family emigrated from England to work the mines, and brother Fred of Kelowna. Jack was a musician and an athlete who played and coached baseball and Junior hockey for many years. He loved the valley and one of his favourite memories was when he and his brother would fish the Red Deer River which ran past their home, and take their catch home for their mother to prepare for the evening meal. Jack was a social worker for the Alberta Government for many years and was always kind and respectful to everyone who he came in contact. He was a devoted church and family man and was a graduate of Ricks College, Rexburg, Idaho. Remaining are Jeanette (Jan), the love of his life, his son Bradley (Michelle), his granddaughter Katie and grandson Chad. We wish to thank the Countinuing Care staff at the Drumheller Regional Health Center for their excellent care. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 27, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1455-4th Avenue N.W., (just off the Dinosaur Trail in Midland).
