It is in deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of our father, grandfather and great grandfather Richard Laverne Pierce in
Invermere, British Columbia on April 4, 2017 at the age of 81. He was born in Drumheller, Alberta on September 21, 1935, son of the late Alfred and
Gudrun Pierce of Morrin, Alberta. He was predeceased by his wife Joan Pierce (nee Fischbach) in 2011. On June 7, 1958; Laverne was united in marriage to Joan Fischbach. They lived, worked and raised their family in Morrin and Stettler, Alberta until their retirement in the mountains of Windermere, British Columbia in (1992). He is survived by his children, Carol of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Ronald (Tina) of Vancouver, British Columbia, Rodger (Laura) of Calgary, Alberta, Darryl “Tiger” (Amy) of Laurium, Michigan, and Darcy (Lois) of Calgary, Alberta. Laverne was also proud to be a grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. A memorial will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Southern Alberta Pioneer Memorial Building, 3625-4th Street SW, Calgary, Alberta at 2:00 PM.
