DOVE 1

CHURCH, Charles (Chuck)

April 25, 1925 - November 4, 2015

An “Open House” Memorial Service for Charles Duncan Church of Carlton, Oregon will be held at Parkland Village Community Room, 3121 SE Cumulus Ave, McMinnville, Oregon 97128 on Saturday, November 21, 2015 between 1-4 P.M. Charles, known as “Chuck“ or “C.D.” was born in Longview, WA on April 25, 1925 to Charles Chesley and Sarah Elizabeth (Reid) Church. He left this earthly existence on the evening of November 4, 2015. He leaves behind his three daughters, Patricia Villasenor (John Webb), Pamela Church and Carolyn Church (Beth Wemple), his ex-wife Barbara as well as four grandchildren: Micaela, Elizabeth and Jonathan (Jenea) Villasenor and Maria Cano Church as well as three great grandchildren: Rylan and Cohen Sunnes and Zoey Villasenor. He was preceded in death by his older siblings, Alice E. Devlin, Thelma W. Little and William A. Church as well as a son-in-law, Juan Villasenor. After the family moved back to Canada in August 1929, Chuck spent his youth in Alberta, where his family homesteaded in both Delia and Athabasca. As a young man he served a time in the Royal Canadian Air Force like his pilot brother before him but the war ended before he saw action. Dad was a very self reliant man and a successful farmer. Tiring of the cold and wind of the prairie, however, he moved his family in 1973 to Mission, British Columbia and subsequently to Carlton, OR during the bicentennial year. He worked principally at Floating Point Systems in Beaverton, OR as a maintenance and air conditioner tech for several years before retirement. Chuck was known for his excellent garden, his ingenious fabrication skills, his incessant perfecting of recipes, his sweetness with little children, his intellectual curiosity and amazing sense of humor in just about any situation. We will miss him dearly and for always.
