Kenneth Robert Ferguson passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Drumheller Health Centre at the age of 85 after a battle with colon cancer.
He was born April 22, 1923 in Ghost Pine Creek just east of Three Hills.  He attended school in Calgary and moved back to Orkney in grade six. When the Second World War broke out Ken joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served overseas in England, and later  in Italy with the 417 Squadron. He has farmed with his loving wife and partner Fay Ferguson (Goodfellow) for the past 61plus years in the Orkney District. They have four children; Pat (Tim) Frayn, Ron (Cheryl) Ferguson, Blaine (Crystal) Ferguson and Kylee (Darcy) Haining. Nine grand children; Wendy (Peter) van Tol, Ken Frayn, Shaun (Shannon) Ferguson, Danielle (Chuck) Plett, Christa Ferguson, Ryan Ferguson, Alisha Ferguson, Derrick Ferguson and Katrina Haining. Five great grand children; Averyanna van Tol, Jaylyn van Tol, Annika Ferguson, Lola Ferguson and Finley Plett.
Ken has one remaining sibling Muriel Johnson and is predeceased by siblings;  Bruce Ferguson, Ruth Atherly and Bill Ferguson. He was loved and will be missed by his family, his friends and his neighbours.
He left special memories with all who knew him. He was laid to rest at the Sarcee Butte overlooking his Hill quarter.  A celebration of life was held at the Knox United Church in Drumheller at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 30, 2009.
