OLMSTEAD, Wallace Elvin (Wally)
October 2, 1937 - December 14, 2014
Wally passed away at his home in Craigmyle, Alberta on December 14, 2014 at the age of 77 years. Wally, the eldest son of Max and Sarah Olmstead was born and raised in Hanna Alberta. In 1957 Wally married his high school sweetheart Betty MacKay. They had five children Cindy, Neil, Gerry, Sheila, and Heather. In 1961 they moved to Craigmyle where Wally worked with Starland County hauling gravel for the next 46 years. He treasured his co-workers and all the staff at the county, they were true friends. Wally was a very honest man and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed his home, children and grandchildren who were always so close. He is survived by his wife; Betty of 57 years, 3 daughters; Cindy Grosfield, Sheila (Al) Rohrback, Heather (Wally) Stern, 11 grandchildren; Lindsey, Derek, Mitchell, Chad, Scott, Jarrid, Haley, Michael, Shylia, Ashley, Cassandra and 7 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons; Neil (Laurie), Gerry, parents; Max and Sarah, 2 brothers and his sister Gloria. A service in Wally’s memory will take place in the spring.
