GAUCHER, Michael Donald

GAUCHER, Michael Donald

July 19, 1970  – July 14, 2012

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Mike Gaucher (Goats) of Airdrie, Alberta on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the age of 41 years. We will remember you always. Mike was born in Calgary. His family moved several times in his younger years, living in Drumheller, Taber, Peace River, and Westlock, Alberta. After graduating high school at Drumheller Comp., Mike tried a stint at Lethbridge College and then tried living in Moosomin, Saskatchewan. He then moved back to Drumheller where he met his first wife Teresa Tondu, and their daughter Beth was born. Later on, after marrying his chosen love Lynne, he moved to Calgary and then to Airdrie where their son Connor was born. Mike tried his hand at a few trades; IGA, Ralstons, Bar Manager at Boston Pizza, and the Den, before settling on a career as a Correctional Officer at the Drumheller Institute.  Sports! What can we say, he loved them all. If you needed to know any stats, Goats was the one to ask, but for some reason the Habs were “always the best”. Mike leaves behind the love of his life, Lynne (nee Kirton), their 7 months old son Connor, daughter Elizabeth, 10 of Lethbridge, step-son Jordan, 14 of Airdrie, father Rene Gaucher (Sandy Wolf) of Morrin, AB, mother Joan Roe (Keith) of Moosomin, SK; mother-in-law Georgina Kirton, brother-in-law Gary Kirton (Sherri), sister-in-law Laura Mattie (Troy) of Airdrie, and father-in-law Frank Kirton of Richmond Hill, ON. As well, he is survived by his step-brothers and step-sisters Troy Wolf (Lisa), Darren Wolf (Tracy), and Jason Wolf (Christine) of Morrin, AB, Tanis Stanhope (Randy) of Rocanville, SK, Jason Roe (Tanya) of Invermere, BC, Jarett Roe of Invermere, BC; two very special cousins Ashley Paice and Nichole Bouvier; 16 nephews, 8 nieces, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Mike was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Omer and Cecile Gaucher of Coderre, SK., and maternal grandparents Don and Mabel MacDonald of Whitewood, SK. Funeral Services will be held at Town & Country Centre (275 Jensen Drive N.E. Airdrie, Alberta) on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.  Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Mike Gaucher, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Airdrie Funeral Home, 300 TOWERLANE DRIVE, AIRDRIE, AB.
