Olympic Athlete inspires students to stay positive

Students cheered in the audience at St. Anthony’s School as Chris Spring, driver of the Canadian Bobsleigh team, demonstrated an exhilarating ride down the icy track.

The Olympian shared stories of racing, but that was not his take away message.

“Think positive, believe in yourself, set goals and motivate yourself to meet them,” said Spring.

Following a crash in Germany, Spring had a hard time getting his head back into the sport.

He told students that the only way for him to shake his fear was to block out all negative thoughts and remain positive.

It sure paid off when he led his team to victory following the crash.

"I won not because I was the biggest guy there, or not because I was the fastest athlete, but because I believed in my ability.”
