Sabres primed for home tourney

The Sabres Senior Boys basketball team are ready to hit the court in their eighth annual Sabres Invitational this weekend.
The competition will be tough at the tournament as they have invited some of the top talent in the zone and in the province at the 1A level.
Teams include Rosemary, Youngstown, Coronation, and Ecole  De La Rose Sauvage.  Also at the tournament are Heritage Christian Academy of Calgary, who are ranked fifth in the province; Forestburg and Livingstone, like St. Anthony’s, received honourable mentions in the first round of ranking at the 1A level.
The Sabres have been progressing this season, with a strong core of returning players as well as a number of new faces. After a disappointing finish to a tournament in Acme, the team is primed to perform well.
The Sabres first take the court at 1 p.m. on Friday to take on Rosemary. If they win, they play Saturday at 10:30 a.m. versus the winner of Youngstown and Coronation. The championship final is at 7:15 on Saturday night.
