FLATER
Donalda (Molly)

June 14, 1945 - October 10, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and sister, Donalda (Molly) Flater on October 10th, 2023 at the age of 78 years old. Donalda was born to Stanley and Janet Molyneux in 1945. Tragically, Stanley died in a mining accident when Donalda was only 18 months old. She was later raised by Janet and her step-father, Ernie Boyce, along with her sister, Heather and brother, Douglas. Donalda was the kindest, sweetest lady so it was no surprise her chosen profession was nursing. She spent 42 years bringing comfort and compassion to her patients. In May 1967, Donalda met the love of her life, Alfred Flater. By September of that year they were married. (Donalda and Alfred just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.) Donalda was a proud mom to her two boys, Brian and Glen. She found great joy in taking care of her family. Her love will continue to be felt by her husband, Alfred; sons Brian (Marina), Glen (Rachel); grandchildren, Ash, Alyssa, Zach and Evan; and surviving brother Douglas. Donalda’s family would like to thank the amazing caregivers at the Drumheller Continuing Care. You are all angels in disguise. A private family service will be held in the future.

Carolynne Susan

May 14, 1954 - October 2, 2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Carolynne. She passed away in Hanna Hospital late on October 2nd.
Carolynne was created in the summer of 1953 in Claresholm and came into the world in Edmonton and grew up in Calgary. After her parents died in 1972 she married Ken Devaleriola. They lived in Calgary, Swan Hills, and Morrin. Michael came into their lives in 1985. She resided in Drumheller with her partner Ron for many years working at the local motels and then at Walmart. More recently she lived in Craigmyle and Hanna with her companion Ray.
After being hospitalized in February 2020 her body did not recover and slowly her energy ran out.
Carolynne leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is survived by her companion Raymond Lowe, her son Michael (Kate) Devaleriola and granddaughter Kalissa. She also leaves behind her only sister Patricia (Mike), brothers Jeff (Lorae) Ryan and Jim (Teresa) Ryan, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews who hold her dear in their hearts.
Carolynne was predeceased by her parents, Pat and Billie Ryan, her brother Rory Ryan and partner Ron Connelly.
Carolynne’s absence is deeply felt, but her memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
We bid farewell to Carolynne, grateful for the time we shared and we honour her memory by carrying forward the love and compassion she bestowed upon us all.
Some of her ashes will be sprinkled over her parents graves in Queens Park Cemetery in Calgary on Saturday, October 14th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a lunch at the Bridges Church.
