Scott Blair

September 4, 1955 - August 31, 2023

Scott Blair Childerstone, 67, of Carbon, Alberta, passed away peacefully at home on August 31, 2023. He was born on September 4, 1955, in Montreal, Quebec.
Scott is survived by his son, Robert, his daughter, Krista, and his brother, Stuart, and wife Candace. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Norman Childerstone.
Scott was a humorous, proud, and private man who found joy in being outdoors. He was often seen shoveling his neighbors’ walkways, cutting the grass, and especially quadding in Kananaskis country. Scott had a deep compassion for animals and was always trying to rescue abused or abandoned ones. His constant furry companion, Shilo, held a special place in his heart.
In his career, Scott served as an EMT, Deputy Sheriff, Water and Vac Truck Operator, Snow Plow (the white whale) Operator, Commissionaire, and a Volunteer Firefighter.
When he wasn’t working, Scott loved spending time engaging in his hobbies. Quadding in the Kananaskis and being outdoors brought him immense joy. He also cherished being behind the wheel of one of his Ford F-150s, embracing the freedom of the open road.
Thank you to his friend and colleague Robert and his Carbon neighbours who helped him in many ways over the past year, from bringing him his favourite Banana Bread, driving him to appointments or just listening.
There will be no formal service. In honor of his commitment to serving the public, donations can be made to the Village of Carbon Volunteer Fire Department.
Friends are invited to gather at the Royal Canadian Legion in Drumheller on Saturday, October 14 at 2:30 p.m. to Celebrate Scott’s life.
Sunset Funeral Services in Linden, Alberta, is assisting with the arrangements.
