SPECHT
Robert Daniel

April 7, 1965 - March 23, 2022

It is with crushing sorrow we announce the passing of our dear son, brother, uncle, partner, friend. Rob was born April 7, 1965 in Eatonia, SK, he was busy and loveable right from the start. Being quite mischievous, he kept his parents and sisters on their toes. He always loved a good prank, he was easygoing and loved to help out his family and friends. Our family moved to Calgary in 1966, then to Carbon in 1973, where Robert took most of his schooling and made a lifetime of friends. Rob loved snowmobiling with his family and friends, once even riding from Carbon to Calgary for a telethon and lots of snowmobiling in the mountains on John Deere trips with Dad. After high school he attended DeVry in Calgary, from there he got a job with Shell Oil, and held various jobs in Calgary and Edmonton, the latest at Edmonton casino. Rob made friends wherever he went, he loved the mountains and to camp with his friends and his four dogs. The void he leaves is tremendous, but we will always cherish the wonderful times we had with him and all of the memories we are left with.
Rob leaves to mourn, his partner Leonard Fagan, his father Dan Specht (Donna), his mother Olive Coutts, his sisters, Susan Nairne (Terry) and Heather Gallagher (Sean), nieces and nephews Wesley Awesome (Bernadette), Stacee Amos, Jessica Nairne (Jamin), Evan Gallagher (Kate) and Avery Gallagher, great niece and nephew Annastasia Amos and Austin Hosick, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Also, his beloved friends Ron and Darryl, and his pups Larry, Willow, Tiny and Mabel.
Rob was predeceased by his grandparents Phil and Annie Specht and Oliver and Beatrice Krogstad, step-father John Coutts, and his beloved dog Shamus.
A Celebration of Robert’s life will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Lord of All Lutheran Church in Strathmore. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Strathmore Handi-bus, Box 2533, Strathmore, AB. T1P 0H3
In Rob’s honour, if you have a good prank, play it on your loved ones in his memory.

Condolences to the family of Gladys Catherine Jensen

JENSEN
Gladys Catherine

November 30, 1930 - March 18, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother Gladys Catherine Jensen at the Drumheller Health Centre on March 18, 2022. We find comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and that this was her wish. We are blessed that we were able to have a 91st Birthday party in November where she was able to see most of her family.
Mom was born in 1930 to Mads and Mary Sorensen, the second of three children. She was raised on a farm outside of Standard. In 1947 she married our father Ralph Jensen and moved to a farm at Rosebud. In 1948 they welcomed their first son, Randy. Then in 1949 they had son Dale and in 1953 their youngest son Larry was born. Mom and Dad were very busy raising three young boys, travelling with hockey, ball and other activities. Then 10 years later in 1963 Mom and Dad were blessed with their only daughter, Laurie. Mom always said she was the one that kept them young. In 1966 the family moved to Drumheller where the boys chose to finish their schooling. Gladys worked part-time at the auxiliary home, a job she loved, working with the seniors. In 1969 Mom, Dad and Laurie moved to a farm/ranch at Craigmyle and then to Delia in 1976. Mom was very active in the community. She always had the coffee on and enjoyed visits from anyone, young or old. In 1988 Mom and Dad retired back to their home in Drumheller where they were very active in the Pioneer Centre.
Mom loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren and was an avid fan and supporter in their activities. In 2008 Mom and Dad moved to the Sunshine Lodge. After Dad’s moving to Memory Lane and passing in 2010, Mom stayed on at Sunshine Lodge until moving
to Hillview in 2020. Mom was known for her wit, sass and spunky attitude and we are forever grateful for her care at the Sunshine and Hillview Lodge.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Olfert and the palliative care team at the Drumheller Health Centre for their utmost professionalism and kindness. A special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tlhape, Mom’s family physician since he came to Drumheller, for his attentive care and compassion through the years and her final moments.
Also thank you to Colleen and Courtney for your kindness, empathy and thoughtfulness during Mom’s
final days. You are true angels.
Gladys was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by her surviving children; Randy Jensen (Telenea Roberto) of Drumheller, Larry (Glenda) Jensen of Strathmore, and Laurie (Darrell) Berlando of Drumheller, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Gladys was predeceased by her son Dale in 1977, granddaughter Jana in 1982 and husband Ralph in 2010. Per Mom’s request there will be no service. A private celebration of life will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
