Carolyn Skoko of Calgary, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the age of 83 years. We love you mom, you accomplished great things in your life and you were a wonderful role model. Carolyn was a great storyteller, a strong feminist, and a well respected elementary school teacher who loved teaching boisterous boys. She believed in hard work and always showed great compassion for others. She was passionate about Canadian politics and even corresponded with her favorite Prime Minister, Stephen Harper. Carolyn grew up in Drumheller with three brothers and her best friend from kindergarten, Margaret Brown. This is also where she met her dashing husband Norman. The many deep friendships she made there were maintained throughout her life, this was her “Drumheller crowd”. Carolyn has lived her adult life in Calgary, a wonderful time filled with familyadventures and great friendships, for the past 50 years where all her children were raised. Carolyn leaves behind her loving children, Mark and daughter-in-law Joylyn, Erica and son-in-law Rob, Blair and daughter-in-law Marzena, and Kevin; her seven spirited grandchildren Sébastien, Zacharie, Jonathon, Gavin, Teagan, Liam and Anika; along with her cherished pooch Daisy, all of whom brought her tremendous pleasure. Carolyn was predeceased by her beloved husband Norman Skoko (1992) and her three brothers: Freeman, Bob and Ian. A Celebration of her Life will be held at Wild Rose United Church, 1317 – 1st Street N.W., Calgary on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 2 p.m. Reception to follow at the church.
