CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY OF ANN SARSFIELD

Mrs. Ann Mary Sarsfield of Drumheller, beloved wife of the late George Sarsfield passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 25, 2017 at the age of 86 years. Ann was born on June 26, 1931 in Drumheller to Alfred and Margaret James. Ann was a member of the Red Hatters for many years, she was also a member for the Beta Sigma Phi, and she loved to sing with the local choirs in the community. Ann was predeceased by her loving husband George Sarsfield. Ann leaves to cherish her memory, her son Patrick Sarsfield, two grandchildren Treena and Shaun, two sisters Peggy James, Florence James, three brothers Tom James, George James, Art James, numerous nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends. She will be dearly missed by her loving family. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, January 2, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.

Louis, beloved husband of Louise Hlasny, passed away December 22, 2017 at the age of 86. Louis is survived by his wife Louise, daughters Karen (Garry) Sorenson, Gail (Harry) Schneider, Dalene (Ronald) Whitehead. Sons Kenneth (Sharon) Lundin-Hlasny, Barry (Cindy) Lundin – Hlasny, Darcy (Rhonda) Hlasny. Having two families, he had numerous grandchildren; three great grandchildren. He is survived by his youngest brother Stephen (Doloros) Hlasny; and cousin Emilia Volnikova, and numerous relatives in Slovakia. He was predeceased by his parents Stefan and Katerina Hlasny, and brothers Edward, and John Hlasny. Louis was born in Drumheller, Alberta. Louis was an avid fisherman and an outdoorsman throughout his life. He lived in the Hamlet of Newcastle, next to the creek that flowed into the Red Deer River. The events that occurred there was a treasure to behold with friends and his youngest brother. He retired from the CPR Railroad after a 38 year career. A memorial service will be held at Calgary Crematorium Chapel, 3219-4th St. N.W. on Thursday, December 28, 2017. Reception to follow at the funeral home.

Roy passed away at home with his
loving wife Stella of 59 years by his side. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Mable Uhrich, brothers Eddy, Brian and Frankie, sister Mable and nieces and nephews. Roy will be affectionately remembered by wife Stella, daughters Joanne (Steve) Dedul, Lee (CharBrace) Uhrich and favorite granddaughter Karly Jo Bodnarchuk, as well as brothers Garry (Marge) Uhrich, Glen (Lucy) Uhrich, sisters Helen Schrock, Carolann Jarvis, Cindy Bailie (Brian), sister-in-law Maryanne Uhrich, brother-in-law Ted (Peggy) Ginger as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Roy was a professional driver with just under three million accident-free miles to his credit. His daughters and granddaughter were his greatest joy. He enjoyed playing music with his friends and riding his Harley into the sunset. Thanks to Dr. Ram and Candace for everything. Special thanks to our neighbour and friend Yola Yearly for her support and contribution to the luncheon. Scott from Courtney-Winters Funeral Home was fabulous with helping the family at this sad time. We would like to thank Freson Bros. in advance for providing the food for the luncheon. As per Roy’s wishes, there will be a memorial luncheon at the Royal Canadian Legion on Centre Street in Drumheller, Saturday, December 30 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to S.T.A.R.S. Air Ambulance or the Alzheimers Society.
