1943 - 2010

David D Upton of Drumheller, Alberta passed away in his sleep after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 66.  David was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan and was the only son of Albert and Ida Upton (predeceased). He was raised in the farmlands of Saskatchewan, a province he loved and supported all of his life. He worked for the Calgary Regional District Nursing Homes for 16 years continuing on with the Drumheller Regional Health Authority for 20 years until retirement at the age of 55. He stayed active in the work force by becoming a Commissionaire at the Penitentiary until 2009.  After a move to Alberta, David found the love of his life, the apple of his eye, Alice (Hanna) from Mirimichi, New Brunswick. In 1979, the family moved from Calgary, Alberta to Drumheller. Dave’s love for life and memories continue on through his loving wife Alice, children Trenda (Phillip) Tyschuk, Tanya (Lorne) Buchwald, Tara Upton and David Upton. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Brandt Buchwald, Ali Buchwald and Devon Upton.  Also survived and ever remembered by his only sister Myrna (Robert) Gorsalitz, his two aunts Carole Upton and Doris Evanchuck, his nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Dave has gone home to be reunited with passed family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Drumheller Hospital for their ongoing care and support during his battle. A special thanks to Dr. Olfert and Dr. Bell-Dingwall who helped guide the family with thoughtful consideration. Dave’s life will be celebrated at the Drumheller Inn on February 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dave to the Canadian Cancer Society.            7p
