JOHNSON, Arthur Oswald

johnson-arthur-oswald.jpgMr. Arthur Oswald Johnson of Big Valley passed away peacefully at the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre on January 21, 2009 at the age of 74 years after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Margaret of 43 years, his daughter Jennifer Nelson, his son David and daughter-in-law Shauna, his granddaughters Molly and April Nelson, his brothers Gordon (Gayle) and Larry (Elaine), his sisters Doreen (Don) Cuncannon, Marion (Leonard) Olson and Anne (Adolph) Holzli as well as many nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Erella and his brother Terry.  Art was born in Drumheller on July 11, 1934 and grew up on a farm west of Morrin. Upon leaving school, he worked for the County of Starland. Art married his wife Margaret in 1965 and a few years later they bought a mixed farm at Rocky Mountain House.  He successfully raised purebred Herefords and this is where they had their two children as well. He worked for the County of Stettler after moving to Big Valley, Alberta in 1988. This is where he retired and lived out his remaining years. There will be no funeral or memorial service at Art’s request. Art and his family would like to thank their friends and neighbours for their kindness and support and the doctors and staff at the Stettler Hospital for their compassion and excellent care. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Art,  memorial donations may be made to S.T.A.R.S. Air Ambulance in care of Brennen Funeral Home (2001) Ltd. P.O.
