Anne (Annie) Walker

September 1, 1924 - February 10, 2024

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the loss of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Anne was born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, on September 1, 1924, and passed away on February 10, 2024, at the Continuing Care Unit in Drumheller.
Anne is survived by her daughter Carol, son Dave (Annette), eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Surviving siblings include Bob of Kelowna and Dennis of Calgary. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill (William A.), granddaughter Christine, son-in-law John, son Tom (William Thomas), and siblings Ruth, Joyce, Jean, and Tom.
Originally from Scotland, her family immigrated to America before settling in Calgary. Being a city girl, imagine Anne’s transition to a farm with no electricity or indoor plumbing and only a wood cooking stove, and a coal furnace. She found joy in simple pleasures such as knitting, crocheting, and tending to her garden. Anne and Bill worked side-by-side, with Anne often seen operating the combine during harvest season. Later, she assumed the role of full-time bookkeeper for the family business. Anne’s commitment to her family was evident in her attendance at numerous events, from 4-H grain, beef and horse clubs, to baseball, basketball and dance. She was a member of the IODE Canada and Ladies Aid of Carbon.
Following a full and busy life, Anne eventually relocated to the Seniors Lodge in Three Hills before moving to the Continuing Care Unit in Drumheller. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family farm at a later date.
