Ella

May 28, 1926 - June 19, 2017

Ella was born in Olds, Alberta, to Fred & Katie Rutschke, being the eldest of five children. The family moved to Bassano in 1934 and later settled in the Duck Lake area where Ella met George Hein, her husband of 65 years. They were married on December 22, 1946 and lived on the farm for 45 years where they raised their six children. Ella’s home was always open and no one ever went away hungry. George & Ella retired to Drumheller in 1990. Ella was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Family was everything to her. Ella was the anchor of her family and because of her values she raised a very close knit family. Her greatest joys were always when she was with her family… Larry (Deb) Hein, Gerald (Ron) Hein, Arlene (Robert) Filkohazy, Fay (Doug) Bangle, Debbie (Glenn) Laycock, Val (Maurice) Thevenaz and all her very special 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and special nephew Randy (Dorrie) Hein and family. Ella was a lifetime member of the Royal Purple and loved spending time tending to her flowers. She was loved by all who knew her, including her very special friend Charlotte Chernoff, who the family will be forever thankful for. She passed away peacefully with family by her side at the beautiful age of 91 years. There will be a celebration of her life on July 10, 2017, at 1:00 pm in the Hussar Community Hall. If friends desire, donations may be made to the Drumheller Hospital Continuing Care or the Sunshine Lodge. Courtney-Winters Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
