Condolences to the family of LOIS BEATON

LoisBeaton

BEATON, Lois

April 22, 1934 - September 11, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother and grandmother. Lois Beaton was born in Drumheller, AB on April 22, 1934 to Alfred and Alice DeBoer. She took her schooling in Alberta and went on to attend Washington State University to become a Laboratory Technician. When attending a barn dance while home on school break she met a young RCMP officer - Les Beaton and they wed in the back yard of the family farm in 1956. Mom and Dad lived in various communities around Alberta - Brooks, Bassano, Slave Lake, Leduc, Edmonton and Westlock - while he was serving in the RCMP. Upon Dad’s retirement in 1975, they moved back to Drumheller to the farm where she was raised. She was no stranger to hard work and loved being busy. She loved to garden and had the most amazing yards - whether at the farm or later in town. She was an avid curler, and dart player and loved going to bonspiels and was known for bringing the best bacon to breakfast gatherings at the Drumheller Ladies Bonspiel. She was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain and welcome people into her home. Being outgoing and fun loving, Mom made many friends wherever she went and whatever she was doing. She was a one-of-a-kind character with a vibrant spirit who will live on in the hearts and minds of her family and friends. Mom will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn, her daughters Leslie Doan and Lynn Crawley, and son-in-law Owen Crawley. Also to treasure her memory are grandchildren Ryan and Zachary Doan and Shae Crawley. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Les Beaton, parents Alfred and Alice DeBoer, brother and sister-in-law Bud and Carolyn DeBoer, and son-in-law Scott Doan. Please join us for a Celebration of Life at the Drumheller Legion at 3:00 on Friday, October 14, 2016. Courtney-Winters Funeral Home in care of the arrangements.
