OttoHoff

HOFF, Otto

December 11, 1924 - August 31, 2016

Otto Hoff of Red Deer, formerly of Three Hills and Carbon, Alberta passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 pre-deceased by his wife, Norma Eleanor (nee Hill) on May 9, 2011 and son, Wayne on March 26, 2006. Otto is survived by his daughter, Sandra May (Jerome) Burke, Drayton Valley and son, Randy Hoff and Yvonne Gordon of Drayton Valley and daughter-in-law, Verna Hoff of Carbon. Otto leaves in sorrow his immediate family and sister, Ruth Ohlhauser (Ivan) of Calgary; and was predeceased by his
parents, Jacob and Martha Hoff, his sisters, Freda (Edwin) Lang and Ida Schneider of Calgary, and brother Theodore of Carbon. His surviving family consists 11 grandchildren, 22 great and 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends number in the hundreds as Otto enjoyed every person that came in his path over his lifetime. His friends were the cornerstone of Otto’s life. Otto loved farming in Carbon, but more than this; his call to service in the community where he served as Reeve of Kneehill County for 21 years, Drumheller Elks Club, Director of Beiseker KIBA seed cleaning plant, Director of Acme Feeders Association, Director of the Carbon Community Association, Director of Health Authority 5 and Director of the Mountain View Credit Union Ltd. Otto enjoyed his friends and fellowship with the Carbon Lions Club and was a life-time member and received the Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship Award in 2015. Horses were his passion and he loved and enjoyed riding and worked with the Alberta Professional Pony Chuckwagon & Chariot Association travelling throughout the province directing the wagons around the figure 8. A good chestnut or black horse was all he wanted or felt he needed to get the job done. Hoff Trailer Sales kept him busy through the last twenty years and he certainly had an ability to know his customers and their wants and needs. It didn’t matter as long as we made a dollar. Burial will take place at the Bethel Cemetery, south of Carbon at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 with a memorial service being held 2:00 p.m. at the Badlands Community Centre, 80 Veterans Way, Drumheller, Alberta Memorial tributes may be made to STARS.
