LineaLoughlin

LOUGHLIN, Linea Christina Margreta

August 1, 1913 - Star City, SK - April 7, 2016 - Calgary, AB

It is with sadness and love that we announce the passing of our beautiful, dignified matriarch, Linea Christina Margreta Loughlin nee Anderson at the age of 102 years. Mother to sons, Ronald and Gerald, Nanna to five grandchildren, Tim Loughlin (Tammy), Ron Loughlin, Shari Loughlin, Kari Kerr (Ed) and Krista Semmens (Christopher), Great Grandmother to, Ryan, Dallas, Katie, Sean, Tamerra (Kevin), Cody, Destiny, Victoria (Brad), Anya, Zachary, Jack, Aubrey and Sophia. Linea (Lillian) was born in 1913 to her parents, Hans and Elizabeth Anderson, in their homestead farmhouse near Star City, SK. Lillian married Joseph Loughlin in 1932 and in 1935 the couple moved to Drumheller, AB where they raised their two sons. Beyond her wife and motherly duties, Lillian became a Gemologist working for Wades Jewellers in Drumheller before moving on to the Drumheller Health Unit as an administrative assistant for many years. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1998 after 66 years of marriage. Lillian bravely lived on, filling her days creating care packages for the homeless as well as sewing quilts and knitting afghans for the Mustard Seed. She enjoyed gardening, baking, playing bridge and sewing baby and preemie bonnets and booties for the hospital. Lillian’s 100th birthday was a wonderful occasion dampened only by the fact that she was no longer legally permitted to drive her car. Lillian was a tenacious, strong, loving and fiercely loyal lady with high morals and a sense of social service. She conducted herself as a truly admirable role model and was also an incredible wife and mother. She will be dearly missed by her family and countless friends in the community of Drumheller, her home for over 80 years. A Graveside Service will be held at Drumheller Municipal Cemetery on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Lillian’s life at the Royal Canadian Legion (295 Centre Street, Drumheller, AB) from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Linea Loughlin, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
