ECTOR, Lucille Deloris

July 2, 1942 - October 24, 2015

Lucille Ector, cherished wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, at the age of 73, following a courageous battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by Gordon, her husband of 48 years, as well as sons Brian (Karla), Glenn (Karen) and Kevin (Dina) and grandchildren Cole, Kate, Elena, Bryce, Olivia and Veronica. She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Martha Johnson. Lucille was born and raised in the St. Walburg area of Saskatchewan. After graduating from Teacher’s College in Saskatoon, she began her life with Gordon in Drumheller. Lucille always kept busy; her education degree was completed at the University of Calgary while raising three active sons and rarely missing an opportunity to cheer Gordon on at his many curling games. Lucille’s interests included golfing, curling, baking, music, playing cards, travelling, spending her summers at the cabin at Brightsand Lake and volunteering at the Seniors Lodge and Continuing Care. She also had many special friendships throughout her life and she treasured each and every one. On Friday, October 30, we will honour Lucille with a Memorial Service, to be held at 2 pm at Knox United Church, 195 - 3 Avenue East, Drumheller, Alberta. A reception will follow at the Dinosaur Trail Golf and Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Drumheller Area Health Foundation (Cancer Clinic), 351 - 9 Street N.W., Drumheller, AB, T0J 0Y1. The family is grateful to Dr. Thlape and all of the staff at the Drumheller Health Centre, and especially her friend Azu, for the compassion and care shown Lucille during her final days. Courtney-Winters Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
