Gene was born in Drumheller hospital  and grew up on a fram in Rumsey with ten other siblings. Betty Sinclair, Clarence Johnson, Lila Meding, Mike Johnson (Carolyn), Joh Johnson (Shirley), Bert Johnson (Elaine), Ed Johnson, Melvin Johnson (Brenda), Melly Cosens (Roy), Linda Cosens (George) as well as many nephew and nieces. Gene was predeceased by his parents Johnny and Mary Johnson, brother’s in law Lawrence Sinclair, Otto Meding and sisters-in law Lillian Johnson and Bernice Johnson. Gene went to school in Greenridge, Rumsey and Morrin. When he left school his first job was at Tracy’s Ranch at Dorothy. From there, he worked for Usher’s Ranch at Scolland, Alberta. Then, he worked for B.C. Tanner of Hussar for a few years. In 1965, tragedy struck. Gene was in an accident and suffered brain injury. This ende his ranching career. he will be greatly missed by all the family - he was a quiet and gentle man.
No funeral will be held. Cremation - ashes will be spread at a later date.
