It is with great sadness that we announce that Darrell passed away peacefully on January 25, 2014 after many years of battling COPD. He was born on May 26th, 1949 in Drumheller, AB the 12th of 15 children born to Frank and Erma Trout. On April 17, 1971 he married Connie Nelson of Michichi, whom he always referred to as his “Angel”. They were blessed with four boys; Ron, Brent, Doug, Brad. Darrell was a farmer/rancher his entire life and he worked as a hired hand on a few different farms. However, the majority of his life was spent on the family farm, of which he eventually became owner of. He had a great love of many things including, first and foremost, his family and visiting with friends. Darrell thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of country life including feeding cattle, working the land, gopher hunting, skeet shooting and even rock picking. Little kids always held a special place in his heart and would always be guaranteed a pat on the head. One of the most joyful occasions was when his grandchildren Thomas and Autumn were born. He was lucky that they lived close by and they were able to spend lots of time together. Darrell will be lovingly missed by his wife Connie, sons Ron, Brent (Carrie), Doug, Brad, grandchildren Thomas and Autumn. He will also be missed by his sisters Audrey Kingcott, Gloria (Bob) Herzog, Betty (Robert) Ridley, Rosemarie “Tiny” Nemetz, Faith Crowle, Marilyn (Bob) Muhlbeier, brother Tim Trout, brothers-in-law Dale (Donna) Nelson, Brian Nelson, sisters-in-law Glenda Trout, Barb Trout, Pat Nelson, Doreen Nelson, Colleen (Gordon) Mckay, Cindy (Kelly) Montgomery and their families, as well as many good friends and neighbours. Respecting Darrell’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to charity of donor’s choice.
