GALLAGHER, Martin James

GALLAGHER, Martin James
July 18, 1947 - November 20, 2011

Martin James Gallagher, b July 18,1947, in Drumheller, AB, passed away November 20, due to a tragic fire in Holden, AB. He will be sadly and deeply missed by his dear friend Kathy Koch of Holden, his brothers: Kenny (Pam) of Port Coquitlam, BC, Bobby (Eileen) and John (Barb), both of Rosedale, AB,  sister Mary Anne (Warren) of Sechelt BC, and  nieces and nephews.  Marty is predeceased by his parents, Bob and Anne Gallagher of Rosedale, and his younger brother Doug.  He is survived by two daughters: Dawn of Toronto and Wendy of Whitecourt, and grandchildren Chelsea, Stephanie, Shelby, Isaac, Megan, Reece and Danielle. Marty had served many years in the military as a Medic and later re-mustered to Aeronautics and became part of the training team for the first Canadian Astronauts and a crash site investigator. After retiring from the military, he worked at the pulp and paper mill in Whitecourt, AB, and then worked in Holden, AB, in their arena, and by transporting travel trailers all over the country. He loved working with computers, had a passion for photography, and driving - everywhere to see everything! Marty always had stories to tell and things to discuss with everyone!  He was an incredibly intelligent person and felt that there was so much to learn still. His trips to the Drumheller valley to visit family were never planned, but welcomed, as everyone always loved to see him! You were loved.  Rest in peace - we will see you soon. A gathering for family and friends will take place next July in Rosedale.
