McPHERSON, Blanche
April 10, 1915 - July 8, 2011

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom on July 8, 2011, Mrs. Blanche McPherson (nee Wilkins) at Calgary, Alberta.  She quietly slipped away in her sleep. Blanche was born April 10, 1915 to Fred and Margaret Wilkins.  She was 1 of 5 children, she took all of her schooling in the Drumheller Valley.  On December 1, 1935, Blanche married Angus McPherson in Drumheller, Alberta.  To this union, eight children were born.  Blanche had many jobs, child care, custodial work, foster parenting, and head cook at the Grace Hospital.  Blanche sewed clothing for all of her family.  She was a wonderful cook.  Family was her greatest joy.  In the summer she loved to get her hands in the dirt, growing bountiful vegetables and nurturing her flowers.  Intricate needlework was also one of her talents.  As a teenager she drew and painted some beautiful natural art work. Blanche was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Angus in 1967, son, Kenneth, son, Thomas, sister, Clara Hetherington, brother, Arthur Wilkins, sister, Edith McMillan.  Blanche leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories, her children: Donald (Patricia) of Bassano, Robert (Elaine) of Millet, Gordon (Diana) of Vulcan, Shirley (Bill) Green of Calgary, Dennis (Debbie) of Calgary, Faye (Phillip) Parenteau of Calgary, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday July 14, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. from Courtney-Winter’s Funeral  Chapel, interment to follow at the Drumheller Cemetery.  If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Calgary Glenmore Temple, Church of the Salvation Army, 921 68th Ave. S.W., Calgary, Alberta, T2V 0N7.  Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Chapels are in care of the arrangements (403 823 2666).
