Drug warrant executed on Acme home

Beiseker RCMP conducted a search at a house in Acme on January 27  as part of an investigation into illegal drug activity.
    Local traffic was disrupted for awhile around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night, as the Beiseker  RCMP, with the help of Airdrie RCMP, undertook the execution of a search warrant at a home on Nolan Street in Acme.
    Police say there was no risk to the public during this event,  and say their investigation is ongoing.    
    Beiseker RCMP ask that residents having information regarding illegal activity in the community call the Beiseker RCMP at (403)947-3420, or to remain anonymous, call crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
    Anyone who provides information to Crime Stoppers that could lead to an arrest, the recovery of stolen property, or the seizure of illicit drugs, could be eligible for a cash reward.


Another death at Drumheller Institution

A second inmate in as many days has passed away after being found unresponsive in his cell.
    Institution staff performed CPR on 47 year-old Martin Pinkus, and emergency services transported Pinkus to the Drumheller Health Centre where he was pronounced dead at 12:04 p.m. today, January 28.
    The inmate had been serving an indeterminate sentence since December of 1999 for second degree murder, aggravated assault, and assault causing bodily harm.
    With all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and coroner are contacted, and Correctional Services Canada conducts a review of the circumstances around the inmate’s death.
    On Monday, 56 year-old Earl Davenport was pronounced dead at the scene when he could not be resusitated by emergency services after being found unresponsive in his cell.

Local detachment honours fallen member

Constable Berry Allison and Constable Sara Rayat were among the members of the Drumheller detachment, who joined the more than 2,000 RCMP members in full red serge to honour Constable David Wynn. A full regimental funeral was held Monday, January 26 in St. Albert to pay final respects to the officer who perished in the line of service.
