Some priceless artifacts have gone missing from the Atlas Coal Mine after a recent break and enter.
    Constable Kelly Zacharkiw of the Drumheller RCMP, reports the Atlas Coal Mine reported to the police on Monday, October 17, that its large artifacts storage building had been broken into.
    Chelsea Saltys, director of visitor services at the Atlas Coal Mine tells inSide Drumheller that six miner lamp battery packs were stolen. She says they are priceless.
    “If they were the Fire Boss ones, they are really rare, we only had a couple of them in our collection,” she said.
    This is the second time the large artifacts building has been broken into this season.
    “We put some additional security things in this spring, but it was broken into again,” she said.
    While they are priceless to the Atlas, they are collectible.
    “They are a very specific item and someone would have to be looking specifically for them,” said Saltys.

    The Town of Drumheller disbursed the first round of grants from the Storefront Grant Program to three Drumheller businesses.
    The businesses in receipt of these cheques were successful applicants to the new Storefront Grant Program and have made improvements to the outside of their businesses. The cheques were received by Sunrise Auto, Merle Norman Fashions and Body Works Massage and Esthetics.
    “We have had a number of applications and these are the first three to reach completion,” said Summer Manca, Chair of the Economic Development Advisory Committee. “It is wonderful to provide support to these projects improving business facades. Well done to everyone involved.”
    “There are some businesses still working on their projects which we hope to get completed soon,” explained Julia Fielding, Economic and Communications Officer. “We have been pleased with the uptake of this excellent scheme and it’s great to see local businesses investing in their properties.”
