Quiet May long for RCMP aside from hamburgler, two B and E’s

May long was a quiet weekend for local RCMP who say the wet and cool weather may have dampened the spirits of rowdy campers.     “It was business as usual,” says Drumheller RCMP Corporal Kevin Charles, adding they received 42 calls over the weekend with only one being camping related. RCMP evicted 18 people partying at a site in Morrin Campground following a complaint. They received only one complaint of a potential drunk driver.
“It was a local issue, not to do with tourists,” said Charles.
A ‘hamburgler’ struck Asteroid Cater in Rosedale on Monday, RCMP say. A break and enter was reported, with a bevy of burgers being taken from the newly opened restaurant at the former Cool Castle location.
Also on Monday were two other reports of break and enters – at the Drumheller Aquaplex, the Drumheller Stampede and Agricultural Society Barn.
Staff Sergeant Arthur Hopkins said on Tuesday they had no update from the two premises as to what property had been taken.
Last year, RCMP received 52 complaints over the May long weekend.
