The Albertans against the NDP (Stand up for Alberta) have rallied once again, this time in Grande Prairie.

The rally, which took place on Saturday, October 3, was hosted by Savage Oilfield Rentals and included a mile long convoy of trucks and drivers.

John Satink, of Drumheller, was one of the many organizers who travelled to Grande Prairie on the weekend.

He said the rally went well. “The weather was kind of bad. The convoy was excellent. There were 32 trucks in the rally. We made a good voice. There were about 100 people at the rally because the weather wasn’t all that great, but people braved it and they came out,” he said.

The rally was very informative, said Satink, who mentioned that topics included climate change and environmental issues among others.

Satink mentioned that two more rallies will be taking place before the federal election on October 19.

“There is another rally coming up on the October 17 in Calgary. We are hoping to attract well over 1000 (people) there. On the same day, at the same time, there is a rally in Lloydminster. (They) are just before the election. We want to be really, really noisy so people in Eastern Canada hear us loud,” Satink explained. The rally in Calgary will be taking place at Calgary Olympic Plaza from 1-4 p.m.

In September the Albertans against the NDP (Stand up for Alberta) hosted two rallies, one in Edmonton on September 13 and the other in Strathmore on September 19.

Satink said the rally in Strathmore went well and had between 200 and 300 people attend and also included a convoy.

“We had a whole bunch of public speakers get up, I’d say over 15 who got up and spoke and we got a lot of valuable information out of that,” he said continuing by saying the Albertans against the NDP Facebook page has reached 23,000 likes.
