Update:Water shortage from Three Hills plant prompts usage restrictions

UpDate: Potable water will be available for residents’ should they wish to access water, other than from their taps.

This water will be available at the town office.

Please bring your own containers with a minimum 3" opening.

The “brown” color in the water is caused from Potassium Permaganate which is an

additive that is added to the water to control taste and odour.

The potassium permanganate settles out of the water.

However this has been stirred up, as a result of filling the reservoir.

The town requests your cooperation to restrict your water usage to

emergency and essential use only at this time.

Theere is no boil water order at this time

A significant event in the water system in Three Hills has prompted the town to ask residents to completely restrict their usage of water.

The Town of Three Hills has posted on it website that due to a water main break, it has requested that residents not use any water until further notice.

It states that while customers may still have pressure, the town requested residents not to use water unless there is an emergency or it is an essential use. The reservoir is at a critically low level and it may take up to 24 hours to refill.

Water quality has not been affected and there no estimated time of repair.

It appears that the problem extends outside of the community. Kneehill County as it posted that the Town of Three Hills had developed a leak in its reservoir and this has drained the water supply for customer in Three Hills, Trochu and in Kneehill County to lines to Mt. Vernon and Equity north of Three Hills.
