The Carbon Boxing Club, in partnership with the Carbon Lion’s Club, have announced they will be hosting a provincially sanctioned amateur boxing card on June 13.
This boxing card will take place during the Lion’s Club sports weekend in Carbon at 6 p.m. on Main Street (weather permitting). The Carbon Curling Rink will be the alternate location.
The event, which is sanctioned by Alberta Amateur Boxing, will feature nine amateur fights in different weight categories and will have three local fighters, Julian Cardinal, Branden Lewis and Jon Ohlhauser.
Ohlhauser will be in the main event and will be fighting Eiad Khateb, a boxer who is originally from Saudi Arabia, but is currently attending school in Calgary.
“This is the club’s first event in Carbon. We are excited about that. If things go well, we would like to look at it being an annual event,” Ohlhauser said.
