Drumheller RCMP Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Art Hopkins is stepping out of his post into a new role.

Drumheller RCMP Staff Sergeant Art Hopkins is leaving Drumheller.
Hopkins has been transfered from Drumheller after seven years of service as the Drumheller Detachment Commander.
Hopkins moves to a supervisory position over eight other RCMP units throughout Southern Alberta, and said he will also have other District duties and responsibilities along with that.
“Presently the RCMP, along with the Town of Drumheller, are working towards the identification and relocation of my successor.  I will be assuming / transitioning into some of my new duties in the near future.”
“For the next few months, although I will still be technically the detachment commander,  Corporal Kevin  Charles will be assuming the responsibility of the day to day operations of the detachment,” Staff Sergeant Hopkins said in a statement today..
Hopkins noted he would like to speak with Drumheller’s Town Council and some of the rural councils before he shares any further details.
