The Town of Drumheller is encouraging residents to brighten the winter skies with its festive, new contest.
Until 4:30 pm on Wednesday, December 17, Drumheller residents can register to have their home’s holiday light displays judged for the Town’s “Light up the Night” contest.
Residents wanting to give recognition to another homeowner can also nominate a neighbour’s festive display for the contest.
Eric Neuman with the Town of Drumheller said the contest has just launched, and already has registrants, so it’s something residents want to see.
“The whole idea is just recognizing the community’s Christmas spirit, and the idea that by putting up your lights and enjoying a contest like this you’re not just involving yourself in a contest, you’re involving yourself in making the community a brighter place.”
Neuman said he’s seen a lot of great light displays throughout town, and encourages people to get their nominations in for the December 17 deadline.
To register your home or nominate another, contact Eric Neuman with the Town of Drumheller at (403) 823-1315, or send an email nomination to eneuman@dinsoaurvalley.com or cglydon@dinosuarvalley.com.
Five judges from the Town of Drumheller will select first place, which wins a gift certificate from Drumheller’s Sublime restaurant.
Second place will win a Town of Drumheller rain barrel and composter.
