90 year old woman dies in Morrin Corner Collison

At 9:57 pm on Sunday April 27th, 2014, Emergency Services responded to a collision at the intersection of Highways 9, 56, and 27, known as Morrin Corner.  Police investigation revealed a Buick car was westbound on Highway 9 and stopped at the intersection's stop sign prior to turning south towards Drumheller.  A Ford pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 27 and failed to stop at the stop sign.  The pickup collided with the passenger side of the car, sending both vehicles sliding through the intersection.  The 90 year old female passenger of the car sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Her 62 year old son, the driver of the car, sustained non life threatening injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Drumheller Health Centre.  Both of these occupants were from Hussar.  The driver of the pickup truck, a 39 year old male, as well as the occupants, an adult female and two children, were all transported to Drumheller Health Centre with non life threatening injuries.  They were from the Coronation area.  Drumheller RCMP are continuing their investigation and charges are pending against the driver of the pickup truck.  No names are being released.
