ELKES
Patricia Arlene

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Patricia Arlene Elkes announce her passing on the eve of October 29; at the age of 86 years. Mom was born the third of six children, on June 28, 1937 to Wanda and Parker Winslow. Mom lived her whole life in Drumheller, as she called it, the ‘Hills of Home.’ As a young girl she spent many hours helping her dad with chores at Central School which is where her strong work ethic was formed and the love to be by her dad’s side. Through her life she worked at Fulton’s Ladies Wear, OK Economy, IGA, Hussar Credit Union and then at DeMott Floors where she was so happy to be able to spend these working days next to her sister Delores. Mom’s nature was apparent of who she was as she received the Rotary’s Most Courteous Clerk of the Year award. Mom married Jack Elkes in 1957 and soon after she was blessed with two children, Marty, and two years later, Jill. Mom will be deeply missed for her positive nature, compassion and kindness. One thing that always came first was the love for her children and their families, with her whole heart. Mom is survived by her husband Jack of 66 years, son Marty (Cheryl), Shelby (Brandon) and Brinley Elkes. As well as, daughter Jill (Kevin) Verstrepen, Ashely (Matt) Rowland, Stacie (Evan) Pettis and Corey Verstrepen. Four great grandchildren Aiden and Jaxson Rowland and Abbie and Ashton Pettis. Her sisters Delores (Joe) DeMott, Velma Dunlop, one brother Lee (Sharon) Winslow, brother-in-law Wayne McComb and many nieces and nephews. Mom was pre-deceased by her parents, sisters Nita (Ivan) Olsen, Gerry McComb and brother-in-law Francis Dunlop. God has received a true angel. Per mom’s request there will be no service. There will be a family gathering at a later date.
