David was born on March 31, 1936 in Carbon, AB and passed away after a short battle with cancer on Monday, December 4, 2017 in Ponoka, ABat the age of 81 years. He leaves behind his children, Geraldine, Tracy andVernon; grandchildren, Jason, Melissa and Matthew; and great granddaughter, Nevaeh. David was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Parker) Metzger and son, Daryl Metzger. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at the Newcastle Community Hall on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm for all those who knew David. Evelyn Matilda Lawrence of Drumheller passed away peacefully at the Hanna Extended Care in Hanna, Alberta on
December 9, 2017 at the age of 103 years. Evelyn (Mom) was born onDecember 15, 1913 to Archie and Ethel Williams near Quill Lake, Sask. Evelyn was the eldest of 12 children. Evelyn worked with her Dad on the farm and later as a “Hired Girl” for people in the community. Evelyn (Mom) loved to dance, play bingo, garden, play cards, she loved horses, loved to cook using fresh produce from hergarden. Evelyn’s (Mom’s) greatest love was curling, she loved to play the game and cheered on her teams at the Brier. Evelyn was an active member of the Royal Purple for many years, a member of the Knox United Church, Drumheller Curling Club, a member of the Drumheller Seniors Centre where she had good times visiting, playing shuffleboard and bingo. Evelyn (Mom) won a Pontiac Leman Station Wagon in an Alpha Milk Contest. Mom will be dearly missed by her loving family. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Diane S. Penner of Peachland, B.C., her son Stan (Wendy) Schedel of St. Walburg, Sask, step son Roy (Brenda) Lawrence. 7 grandchildren, sisters; Blanche Broad, Florence Johannson of Wynyard, Sask, Mae Johnson of Kelowna, B.C., Ethel Bonnar of Port Alberni, B.C., brothers; Bill Williams of Regina, Sask, and Stan Williams of Yorkton, Sask, numerous nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends. Evelyn (Mom) will be laid to rest on her 104th birthday, funeral services will be held on Friday, December, 15, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the Knox United Church, interment will follow in the Drumheller Cemetery. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.

Lawrence (Larry) Lauder

December 28, 1922 - December 10, 2017

Lawrence (Larry) Lauder Black was born on the family farm near Drumheller, Alberta on December 28, 1922. He was the first of three children of Albert and Grace Black. Larry attended the Gartleyschool near Morrin, AB and later worked in the coal mines inEast Coulee. In 1943 he married Minnie Andrews and they had one daughter. After only twenty years of marriage Min passed away, and in 1964 Larry married Laurene (Bertsch) Blehm, a widow with four sons. He was well known in the area as a trucker with E.O Parry, and was a long time member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Larry is lovingly remembered by his daughter and son-in-law Faith and Harry Wilnechenko of Calgary and four sons and daughters-in-law: Lyle and Gwen of Westlock, Dwain andDiane of Kelowna, Rod and Donna of Edmonton, and Neal and June of Langley. He has sixteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. He is also survived by one sister, GracePotts-Coles of Victoria. On December 10, 2017 Lawrence Black passed away and went home to be with his Lord. A memorial service will be held in January. Condolences can be sent to www.MyAlternatives.ca
