Frances passed away peacefully at the Drumheller Hospital, surrounded by her family, after suffering a serious head injury last November.

Frances was born on the family farm near Vonda, Saskatchewan to John and Ann Skomar, she was the eldest of 11 children.  She married Ezdore Deptuck in May of 1946.  They had two children and moved to East Coulee, Alberta in 1949, where Ezdore worked in the coal mines for many years.  Frances had several jobs, the longest of which was at the Drumheller Sunshine Lodge.  Her sunny smile and hard work earned her many friends. Frances was a very active senior.  She enjoyed travel, bingo, and shuffle board.  Her greatest joy was her family, especially her twin great grandsons, who lovingly knew her as “Baba”. Frances was a devout woman and was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League for over fifty years. Frances was predeceased by her son, Edward in 1971, her husband, Ezdore in 1994, her granddaughter, Angela in 2009, two siblings in infancy and three brothers, Fred, Bill, and Eugene Skomar. Frances is survived by her daughter, Addie (Chuck) Deal, granddaughter, Christine (Ryan) Ewing, and their two boys, Brody and Duncan.  She will also be sadly missed by her siblings: Mary Ewanishin of Bruno, Saskatchewan, Rosie (Paul) Kabatof of Langley, BC,  Irene Orbon, Victor (Theresa) Skomar,  Tony (Marilyn) Skomar  all of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and numerous nieces and nephews. Prayer Vigil was held Tuesday April 6, 2010 from Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Chapel at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday April 7, 2010 from St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. with interment to follow in the Drumheller Cemetery.  A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow at St. Anthony’s Hall, (located next to the church).  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Catholic Women’s League (St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church) or the Building Fund (St.  Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church). Courtney Winter’s Funeral Chapels are in care of the arrangements. 403-823-2666
