HATT, Winnifred Olive

November 6, 1942 - February 21, 2015

Mrs. Win Hatt, a longtime resident of the Drumheller Valley passed away in Drumheller on February 21, 2015 with her family by her side. Win was 72 years of age. Win was born on November 6, 1942 in Calgary, Alberta. Win grew up in the Drumheller area, she took all of her schooling here. On June 18, 1960, Win married Gerry Hatt, to this union there were two children, Murray and Heather. Win had many interests in life, she was an avid ball player, she coached girls’ softball in the valley and played ladies ball. Win enjoyed curling, tin crafts, and ceramics. Win had a passion for the safety and wellbeing of all animals, especially cats, and attempted to start an animal shelter in the valley in the 80”s. Win was proud to have been the first Rumsey Rodeo Queen in 1959. Later on in life with the onset of her blindness, Win spent quality time with her family. Win was predeceased by her mother, Olive Karg. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Gerry, Son, Murray (Melanie), Daughter, Heather (Nathan) Tupper, Grandchildren, Nicole, Geoffrey, Stephen, Kylee, Dustin, Larissa, Jeffery, Tyler and Nick, three great grandchildren, two brothers, six sisters, and numerous nieces, and nephews. Win will be missed by her loving family. Win will be laid to rest with her faithful companions, her cats Babe and Spunky at a later date.

A celebration of Win's life will be held Saturday, February 28 at the Newcastle Hall from 2-5 pm.
