MESTINSEK, Madeline Florence (nee Yopek)
May 13, 1949 - March 12, 2011

Madeline Florence Mestinsek (nee Yopek), longtime resident of Grande Prairie, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family at Grande Prairie, Alberta on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the age of 61 years. Madeline was born on May 13, 1949 to Joseph and Ethel Yopek in Drumheller, Alberta.  She attended Drumheller Composite High School and graduated in 1967.  She married Roger Martin Mestinsek in 1969, and moved to Grande Prairie in 1973.  During her 38 years there she raised her family and worked for many of those years in the real estate industry as a realtor and an office administrator after spending years homemaking and creating a warm environment for her children, and several other people’s children.  Madeline had many passions, including the collection of antiques, especially her depression era glassware.  Her main focus however was always her family’s happiness and well-being.  Her lap was always open to her grandkids, even when they seemed to overwhelm her small frame. Madeline is survived by and will be sorely missed by her devoted husband of 42 years, Roger; her children, Michael (Yvette Marchand), Jason (Pamela Service) and Jocelyn (Warren Samson); her grandchildren, Caelan, Makenna, Sofie, Avye, Seth, and Evelyn; her brother in-law Frank (Bink) Losoncy (Donna); her nephew Derek Losoncy (Cathy Rosgen); as well as many numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.   She was predeceased by her father, Joseph; mother, Ethel; sister, Barbara Losoncy and nephew, Paul Losoncy. In lieu of flowers, please consider signing your donor transplant card and letting your family know of your wish to become an organ donor.  Memorial donations can be made to the Alberta Lung Association. The family wished to thank the Alberta Health Service Home Care Program and all of the dedicated, professional and compassionate nurses who provided invaluable care and assistance to Madeline.
