It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hilda Maley, our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She passed away quietly on October 2, 2013, at the Continuing Care Centre in Drumheller. Born on November 25, 1920, in Smethwick, England, she was an only child to parents Alice and George Hayward. She is predeceased by husband George. An English war bride, she loved to sew and knit and will always be remmebered for her fashionable clothes that she designed, wore and created for all - especially her daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. She is survived by her daughters Sandi Leeder, Arlene (Chuck) Bickford, Georgina/Jo (Hardy) Kolm, Carolynn Warris, Barbara (Gordon) Reid and Janette Maley and sons Trevor (Sandi) Maley and Earl Maley, as well as 21 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by one grandson. A memorial service will be held at Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle, 245 3rd Street West in Drumheller on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Gordon Reid officiating. A private interment will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Calgary. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Drumheller Continuing Care Centre.
