Dragons fall to Saints in third straight shootout at home

Sarah Devereaux

The Drumheller Dragons hosted the Spruce Grove Saints Saturday night and forced the third straight shootout on home ice.
The Dragons took a 2-0 lead into the second period, but Spruce Grove scored to make the score at the end of the second 2-1.
The third period kept fans on their seats, as the Dragons took a two goal lead again before Spruce Grove scored two back-to-back goals to tie the game forcing first, an overtime period, and then a shootout.
The Dragons' Connor Duncan was the first shooter and scored for the home team. Duncan was the only successful player to score for the Dragons, and the Saints went home with a 4-3 win after five shooters.
The Dragons will now head on the road to Camrose to face the Kodiaks tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon.
They will then head for a north road trip next weekend, before returning home Friday, January 30 when they will play the first game in a back-to-back series against the Olds Grizzlys. Game time that evening is 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Arena.
